Abstract
The advent of ubiquitous communication and information technology infrastructure, and advancements in sensors and sensor networking have paved the way for the development of the next frontiers in health care; pervasive health monitoring, health record access, health emergency management and health services delivery. Some of the daunting challenges that we face today are providing health care for the growing population, managing chronically ill patients, aiding independent living for the elderly population, caring for the old and the disabled, and managing the skyrocketing healthcare costs. The pervasive healthcare technologies can be our newfound tool in tackling these problems.
The talk will illustrate some of the technologies, the challenges in deployment and the societal implications of such technologies.
